During my three-month internship at Southa Holdings Limited, I gained more experience than I initially anticipated. I had initially viewed this opportunity as a simple observation of the working environment and a minor foray into the industry. Contrary to my apprehensions and uncertainties, I was embraced by amiable colleagues who were enthusiastic about helping me integrate. Their assistance enabled me to effectively use my communication and social skills, as well as my ability to learn quickly, to become an integral part of the team. Despite the initial challenges in adapting to the work rhythm, my colleagues were always willing to assist. They assigned me a range of tasks that facilitated my personal and professional growth. My responsibilities included calculating material requirements, which honed my skills in creating lucid layouts and presenting data in Excel. Furthermore, I acquired proficiency in AutoCAD from scratch and can now draft comprehensive designs, thanks to their patient guidance. My supervisor also suggested topics for me to research, such as product comparisons, industrial procedures, and the coefficient I studied in college. I was given the opportunity to visit the customs headquarters, the M+ museum, and the latest HVAC models, which gave me practical understanding of problem-solving within our industry. I also had the privilege of forging friendships, some exceptionally strong, extending beyond just professional relationships. I would like to extend my profound gratitude to Hornell Hall.
