On 8 June 2014, student members of Hornell Hall -- Albert Lau, Jacky Law and Victor Cheung Ko -- obtained the top innovation award at the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers's (HKIE) Hi-Tech Fiesta. They were acknowledged for their submission under the "Bridging the Gap" category for their work addressing a device (battery-operated) enabling wheelchairs to cross the platform gap on and off trains. This innovation has potential to not only assist wheelchair users in Hong Kong but has implications worldwide !
