This July, following a nomination by Hornell Hall, I completed a brief two-week internship at Gary Soo’s Chambers. Under the diligent oversight of Professor Gary Soo, I was tasked with drafting extensive affirmations and response letters for an ongoing construction dispute, alongside formulating hypothetical strategic matrixes to account for arbitrational determinations in a high-stakes mortgage dispute. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to shadow several tenants across an eclectic mix of matters, ranging from adverse possession claims to various local criminal proceedings. I extend my sincere gratitude to the Head of Chambers and the wonderful tenants for their constant presence and oversight during this brief experience, especially for the frequent, impromptu strategic meetings, which provided a unique window into the internal discussions of the practice. Ultimately, this experience was deeply clarifying. Observing the specific culture and daily operations of this industry provided the exact perspective I needed: it reinforced my passion for pursuing a career at the Bar, while making it remarkably clear which areas of the profession I intend to specialize in.
